These techniques add textural and visual interest to her work. You can also meet Ros Ward and discover her quilt making journey. Ros shares the instructions for a gorgeous wall hanging that includes hand-dyed fabrics and three-dimensional flowers. Other projects encompass a variety of techniques such as foundation paper piecing used for a vibrant quilt based on the traditional Kaleidoscope block and hand piecing used for a Mennonite-inspired quilt. No. 92 2006

This issue includes a wall hanging featuring creatures from the sea, a charming quilt made from soft floral prints, a stunning wall hanging designed using the Fibonacci theory of proportional measurements, an amazing colourwash design featuring over 900 prints, a striking positive/negative applique and last, but by no means least, the final part of the Mystery Quilt - revealing Midnight Madness in all its glory! And, if you choose to not start something new right now, you will at least enjoy reading the articles. You can meet two quilters - Nicole Bridges and Alison Muir. Since her introduction to Amish quilts, Alison has had a lasting fascination with light and continues to explore the effects of light on colour in her quilts. Nicole is a talented machine quilter, who uses stitching to great effect. Although it can be a challenge to show the intricacies of the quilted stitch in photographs, it is obvious in our article how well executed Nicole's quilts are.

No. 91 2005

Erica (the editor) has tracked down an inspiring collection of star quilts ranging from appliqued stars to an intricate Lone Star design. This stimulating article is followed by Amanda Daly's medallion quilt project featuring a Feathered Star. You will have the opportunity to read about two very talented quilters - Fiona Wright and Marcia Hoipo. Fiona began sewing as a child, making her own clothes from as young as 12. As colour had always fascinated her, it is no surprise that she continued to play with cloth and colour and that these days she expresses herself through art quilts. On the other hand, Marcia did not stitch as a child even though her mother was a keen sewer. It wasn't until 1978 when she became interested in patchwork, and since then colour and texture has inspired the growth of her work. If looking at quilts inspires you, then you will love the Bernina Blankets of Love quilts and the Sydney Quilt Show quilts, and perhaps you just may find the time to start one of the five gorgeous quilt projects we share in this issue.
