by Quilts Remembered
This quilt is a tribute to Mary Todd Lincoln. Mary Todd Lincoln, born in 1818, married the 16th President of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln. After marrying Abraham Lincoln in 1842 they settled down where Mary supervised a growing household. As ordinary as that may sound, Mary had a tragic life. Sadly, Mary lost three of her four children to illness and her husband to an assassination. Mary passed away in 1882 after many illnesses and certain heart break. Finished size: 60" x 60".

Image - Pattern Milton's Musket Balls (Pattern)
from Civil War Legacies/Carol Hopkins Designs
Civil War soldiers like Milton had to make enough musket balls to fill their leather pouches before going into each battle. The soldiers used the campfire to melt lead in an iron kettle. Then, long-handled ladles were used to pour the hot liquid into a tool that contained a mold to form the metal balls. During the battle, Milton used gunpowder and rag patches to load and shoot the balls one at a time from his musket. Use your favorite Civil War fabrics to create the 5" musket ball blocks for this quilt. 25" x 31"

Explore this wonderful new pattern series by Kaye England -Signature Scraps. It takes advantage of that ever increasing stash of fabric you all have (and you know who you are!)
FROM KAYE ENGLAND: The combination of simple elements, great fabrics and clean piecing will yield a very exciting scrappy quilt. This quilt uses one single background that is very busy giving the appearance of more than one fabric. If you prefer to scrap your backgrounds, it is recommended that you stay close in value so the pattern formed by the dark squares can be readily seen. This quilt can be completed using your stash, which gives you the perfect excuse (as if you needed one) to visit your local quilt shop to add to the next quilt stash. This would be very easy to enlarge to any desired size by just repeating the elements or even adding borders. Any fabrics your choose, or any size you choose, this is sure to be a show stopper showcasing your fabric collection.
Finished size: 63" x 63"
(pattern misprinted shows 54" x 54").

Explore this wonderful new pattern series by Kaye England -Signature Scraps. It takes advantage of that ever increasing stash of fabric you all have (and you know who you are!)
FROM KAYE ENGLAND: In the late '90's while perusing one of my many quilt books, I spotted this incredible 19th century quilt. After studying it for a bit, I realized that the original quilt had 50 autograph blocks and 49 stars. Ah, a perfect spot to make a quilt to celebrate the "Statehood" of our 50 great States. I began this quilt on January 1, 2000 and finished it in January 2008 - so let's not quibble about how long it takes to make a quilt!!
