Using a combination of techniques and full-size applique patterns, Cherry Blossoms is a pleasant reminder of Spring. Measuring 19" x 23", the delicate three-dimensional flowers are yo-yos with stitched centers on branches of fusible applique and stitching. Monoki

Monoki is a charming little wall hanging with an oriental flair. Measuring an 18.5" square, it features a folded kimono that can also be hung separately on a chopstick to use as a wall ornament. Pattern includes a smaller version that can be used as a tree ornament. The Monoki wall hanging is finished with an interesting mitered border and 3-D flowers. Kimono Grace
Paperpiecing
Ritual and tradition are an integral part of Eastern cultures, and the kimono is symbolic of their rich heritage. To be considered a true kimono the robe must have long sleeves which are loose, ankle length, and the front lapping left over right across the chest to create a V-neck. It would be unheard of to adorn a kimono with buttons or ties, as the robe is held together with an obi, a sash worn around the waist.
