Confetti Flowers
At this years embroidery party we have been stitching one of these flowers in class. The project goes along with a contest of which group can be the most creative. I am always amazed at what our attendee’s stuff into their flowers. We decided to create not only 20 freestanding flowers but also 20 quilt blocks to go with them. Each flower design uses assorted confetti to match the color of the flower; the end result is truly beautiful; you will love creating these designs. Hoot!
It seems that no matter what store you travel to these days you see owls. The store could be a children’s clothing store or a home decor center. We decided that a collection of owls would be the perfect addition to our Mini Mix and Match Quilting collections. There are 12 different owls in cute poses. There is even an owl playing the guitar! Classic Trapunto
There are over 40 different designs in this collection that use our innovative trapunto technique to create dimensional embroidery designs. We decided to use less conventional fabrics in this collection, we used stretch velvet for the base fabric and silk dupioni for the borders; the result is a truly modern quilt. Fresh Flowers
For this collection we wanted to create designs that used quilting stitches in the background and were covered with flowers that when stitched together create long strips of quilted and floral stripes. There are 15 unique blocks that can be stitched together in unlimited combinations. Half of the flowers are applique and the other half are fully stitched. Mylar Spring
Mylar is a very shiny plastic material that you will immediately recognize from balloons you’ve purchased at party stores. You can order Mylar online in a huge assortment of colors. These quilt blocks have been specifically designed for Mylar but you can use any fabric with them. The question you are going to ask is about laundering and care. I recommend washing the designs on delicate or even better hand washing them with a mild detergent. Do not iron directly on the Mylar or put the blocks in a drier. The heat will cause the plastic to shrink. I recommend doing a laundry test on one of the blocks so you can see the results. There are 20 different main blocks as well as 7 different border designs. Trapunto Christmas
We thought a Christmas collection would be a great theme for our second trapunto collection. This trapunto technique is nothing like the old techniques where you stuffed the fabric from the back. This technique uses batting that is cut in your hoop into different shapes to form the raised trapunto effect. Christmas Mirror Blocks
We called this collection Christmas Mirror Blocks for a reason; each block is split down the middle and combines two unique fabrics for amazing results. Each of the blocks combine folded fabric techniques with standard applique. Both of the appliques are outlined with split satin stitches and finished of with a running stitch down the center of the satin stitch. The end result is stunning. Oodles of Doodles
This was an incredibly fun collection to both design and stitch out. We were inspired to create modern hand embroidery designs and the concept grew from there. Each of the blocks contains a central character surrounded by leaves, clouds, flowers and other whimsical objects. The art was beautiful on its own but really came to life with the stitching. All of the lines us a 7 or 9 ply stitch so they are very bold when stitched out. There are also dozens of motif stitches used for more dramatic flair. Depending on the colors you choose the designs can look modern or vintage, grown up or adolescent. There are also a few different transitional blocks included so that you can complete your project. Primitive Snowmen
This is our first mini collection in the Mix and Match Quilting line, Primitive Snowmen. This collection has ten different snowmen blocks with two different styles of transitional blocks that go between them. We used a regular satin stitch as a finishing stitch for the appliqué designs in the snowmen with a blanket stitch surrounding it. We also used linen as our background fabric for a different look. We simply chose different Christmas color fabrics and contrasting thread colors for these designs. We found that white thread looked great on the darker colors and red worked great on the lighter. Spring Blossoms
These designs are very easy to stitch, they don’t have applique or any special technique and they all use only three colors of blue thread. Of course they would great in any other color as well. Modern Free Motion
This collection consists of 22 modern patterns in 3 different ways. The first version uses a single pass running stitch that mimics free motion quilting. You can even add other embroidery designs right on top of them. The second version is a triple running stitch for a bolder effect! The third version is truly awesome; it is a combination of both stitches. It is a new technique we came up with completely by accident. Anita Goodesign has created a collection that consists of quilt blocks that easily merge with your existing designs and allows you to create beautiful quilts in your machine without using any software. You simply open the desired background block, merge your existing embroidery design and stitch the block! You will end up with a perfectly centered quilt block complete with your choice of many backgrounds and borders. This collection doesn't just come with square blocks. There are 3 different sizes of squares, 2 different rectangles, 2 different mitered corners and 2 different triangles. With these combinations you can create hundreds of different quilts! This latest "Mix and Match" collection has a traditional quilting theme, Rose of Sharon. This type of quilt was typically created by hand using dozens of small applique pieces. The end result was beautiful but very time consuming. Instead of hand piecing and sewing blanket stitches around all of the beautiful leaves and flowers we decided to use machine applique and surround the shapes with stain stitches. The end result is stunning! This collection comes with 20 main blocks as well as rectangles, squares and triangles. The addition of these other shapes allows you to create exciting combinations of designs.
