Wool Care Suggestions by Barb from Wild Thymes Pattern Company: "If you have a finished wool applique piece that is small, like a table runner, pillow etc, it doesn't need laundered unless it gets something really bad spilled on it. Then, soak it in the bath tub in luke warm water - no agitation, just gentle hand movement. Lay it flat to dry on towels or a big sheet, do not hang it as the weight of the wool will stretch it. If it's a large quilt, the very best way is as described above. You can try dry cleaning but it is a risk. NEVER put your wool in the washing machine and NEVER use one of those dye-catcher items. They actually pull the dye (from hand-dyed wool) out of the wool. We encourage shops to recommend using wool backgrounds instead of a combination of cotton backgrounds and wool applique. In small wall quilts it is probably okay, but NOT in quilts."
